I first started thinking about this story around two years ago when I saw a shadow across the full moon that looked like a dragon. It was a dark gray cloud, but it captured my imagination and for a year, I considered a plot that might work that sight into a story and so the legend of Ponte Drago, (Dragon Bridge) was born.

My lovely hero Key Alder is an ordinary guy, worn down by life as many people are. Naturally, I’m in love with him, as I am with all my characters. Unlike, Oliver Honeycutt in Night Song, he’s not modeled on any of my gay male work colleagues who have become dear friends. He stands alone, and like all my characters he must, and does have, a wonderful love story and happy ending.

Claudio Di Fiore, my other hero is, as Key Alder puts it, gorgeous and enigmatic. I think, right now, he is one of my favorite characters from any of my MM romance stories. His love for Key is steadfast and fierce. He's a fife dancer and acrobat. His daring leaps capture his audiences. When he sees Key among the crowd he sets out to capture his heart.  

The story is contemporary gay MM romance, fantasy, adventure, and paranormal romance. The love scenes are hot and the action varied.

I hope readers enjoy the legend and the love story as much as I loved writing it.

The beautiful man in his arms sighed as Key kissed him. “I want you so much. I have to tell you. This, the way I feel about you, it’s new to me. Feel my heart.” He grabbed one of Key’s hands and pressed the palm to his chest.

Key gasped at the touch of Claudio’s fingers and the muscles beneath his hand. Claudio’s heart thumped. Key whispered between kisses. “My heart is racing, too. Claudio, the moment I saw you something happened to me…”

Claudio kissed him—surged against him.

A groan escaped Key at the feel of Claudio’s rock hard cock through his pants. He shifted his hips a little so that his own aching dick pressed on the hard column. He held Claudio’s face and kissed him, pouring tenderness into the embrace as seeds of love mingled with lust.

“Key, we need to talk. You know, to find out things about each other. Have dinner with me tomorrow. Meet me. There’s a restaurant hotel in the valley. I don’t perform tomorrow night. It’s the fire eater’s spotlight.” He stopped whispering and kissed Key.

“I’d love to have dinner with you.” Key answered a breath away from Claudio’s lips.

Claudio moved half a step away. He shook his head slowly. “I have to go. The troupe will wonder where I am. I don’t want to. I want to be here in your arms. The restaurant tomorrow night in the valley, 8:00, okay, it’s called Luna Blu.” He smiled.

Key nodded. “I’ll find it.” He grabbed Claudio close and hugged him tight. Then he let him go.

In an effort to be more active, I walk down the hallway toward the stairwell, with a bounce in my step and a smile on my face.

Declan and I have the whole day, and now the night, together. He's re-creating our first dates, starting with a wine picnic at the same park and ending at the incredibly private lighthouse where we had dinner. You can rent it for overnights now, and Declan did. Set up everything with our nanny, Mia.

Or, rather, his executive assistant did. Still... it counts.

I get Declan all to myself for more than twenty-four perfect hours.

Our daughter is settled in with Mia, the wonderful nanny we've had since I went back to work, and there's a birthday party tomorrow for a pre-school classmate that Ellie's so excited about. An indoor splash park, pizza, cake, and fun–what more could a nearly-four-year-old want while Mommy and Daddy are gone?

Something in my chest pulls a little. She's our one and only, and it’s been almost eighteen months of trying for a sibling with no success. The mental gymnastics I go through to avoid thinking nonstop about my body's failure are incredible. If they gave medals for Fertility Crossfit, I'd be on the podium.

“MAMA!”

Just as my hand is on the industrial steel door to the stairwell, I hear her, Ellie's footsteps banging down the carpeted floor, her dark, wavy hair flying behind her like a mare's mane. A grin stretches her face, and she's clutching something made of red construction paper. Mia walks behind her, slow but observant, moving toward us but in no hurry.

Her bond with Ellie is secure.

“Yes?”

“I made this for you and Daddy!”
