For years Lulu hid out with the Desert Rebels as one of their club whores. A sweetheart to everyone, and a favorite with the brothers. But now the time has come for her to choose her own path and pay her own way. With their help she leaves her whoring days behind to start a new life.

Brody Savage is an assassin who works both sides of the law. He doesn't have time for messy relationships and prefers one-night-stands. He's had his eye on Lulu for years. But as long as she belonged to the club he wouldn't touch her. Now she's fair game and he plans to do more than just touch her. He wants her for himself.

Excerpt

Brody moved so fast I didn’t hear him coming. The next thing I knew he’d pushed me up against the wall and covered me with his body. I caught my breath as I found the front of my body crushed against the wall, and turned my head sideways in order to breathe.

“The only whore here is you,” he grated roughly against my ear. “I don’t want to hear what you’re used to. You don’t know anything about me, and all that changes right now.”

I felt his lips murmur the words against my ear, the warmth of his breath causing a shiver of need through my body. I hadn’t been with anyone for the better part of a year, and loving sex the way I did, Brody’s overwhelming closeness was turning me on. It didn’t surprise me, even knowing that we didn’t like each other. Since when did liking someone have anything to do with fulfilling a sexual hunger? I bumped my hips back as if trying to dislodge him, but all it did was reveal how fucking hard his dick was against my ass.

I caught his hiss as he thrust right back against me.

“What do you want?” My words came out in a husky rasp. I wasn’t afraid of him, only of what he made me feel. I liked rough, take-charge men that took what they wanted. It was a good thing, because I’d surrounded my life with them. But Brody was different. Not in the way he was dominating me, but in the way that I felt for him. I wanted to hate him.

He ran his mouth up and down the side of my neck, grinding his cock into my ass.

“I want you, Hellcat. And someday soon I’m going to fuck you. So you might as well get ready, because when that day comes, you’ll never be the same.”

Excerpt

Why don’t we all close our eyes and get started,” Emmy said. Her hands were sweating. The back of her neck was sweating. She blew out a long breath and focused on the back wall of the studio. “Breathe in, hold one second, and breathe out. Again, breathe in...”

She had no idea how she got through the hour. She wished Blake had chosen an Advanced Class, just so she could put him through pigeon pose and a headstand or two. But apparently the basics of Sun Salutation were torture enough. He grunted trying to keep up. Once he stumbled and nearly took out the little girl in front of him. A sheen of sweat appeared on his brow, and in the middle of tree pose, as he was wobbling and reaching for the wall to keep from falling, Emmy could swear he cursed under his breath. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing. He narrowed his gaze at her. She narrowed hers right back.

Finally the class drew to its ritualistic end. “All right, lie back, extend your arms and legs fully, and let go. Relax your breath. This is Savasana pose, also known as corpse pose, the way we end every yoga class. It is a chance for you to let go of all your efforts and let the effects of your practice sink in.” And a chance for Emmy to gain her composure, because as much as she’d gotten a kick out of watching Blake struggle, she’d also felt a slip of desire more than once.

Those palms, spread wide on the mat, that had once wrapped around her waist.

Those legs, strong calves and thighs, that used to flex while sprinting down the college football field.

That square jaw, the dark hair, the quiet sounds of sleep she used to love to wake up next to.

Stop remembering all that.

Sure. She could stop breathing too, while she was at it.

Emmy summoned them to a seat at the end and chanted the final meditation. As they rolled up their mats and replaced their shoes, she turned on the lights and slipped a waiver onto a clipboard for Blake. Really, she didn’t want his paperwork. She didn’t even want his money. It wasn’t like fifteen dollars was going to make or break her at this point. If he had five thousand dollars he wanted to put out for the class, that would be another story, but he’d made it pretty clear the other day that he was interested in buying the whole building out from under her. For way below its market value, probably.

Goodbye, thank you, see you soon!” she called as the women walked out. She hoped one of them would stay, even if they made comments about Blake being her boyfriend, but they didn’t. It was as if Bev’s Boutique was having a fire sale they all had to get to. In less than five minutes, she and Blake were alone.

Well, that was interesting.” He rubbed his shoulder. “That was a beginners’ class?”

It was.”

Some of those women are in pretty good shape.”

They are.” Maybe if she spoke in single syllables and short sentences, he’d get the hint and leave. “Here you go.” She handed him the clipboard.

Emmy.”

Please don’t call me that.”

He swallowed back whatever comment he’d been about to make and glanced at the clipboard instead. He filled in the lines with a few scribbles, pulled out his wallet, and handed over a ten and a five.

Thank you.”

Can we talk?”

About what? Did you have questions about the class or any of the poses?”

He gave her a look, that look, the one he used to level on her back in school when she was being deliberately unreasonable and they both knew it. “Actually, yeah. That dog one? Where we were supposed to be upside down? I don’t think I was doing it right.”

Downward Dog?” One corner of her mouth tugged. Don’t laugh at him. Don’t even smile at him. But she couldn’t help it. “You weren’t.”

I knew it.” He looked at his mat, still lying on the floor. “Can you help me?”

Blake.”

I’m serious. My doctor keeps telling me I need to relax. If I can learn yoga, maybe she’ll be happy. My father had already had his first heart attack at my age.”

Fine. Come over here.” She unrolled her own mat and laid it a few inches from his. “Now watch.” She balanced herself on her hands and feet, straightening her legs and stretching deeply into the pose. She loved Downward Dog. It made her feel grounded and secure, even when nothing else in her life did. “See how my back and my arms are straight? And my head is down?”

He ran one hand along her spine. “Yes.”

She dropped to her knees. “Hey.”

Sorry. I couldn’t help it.”

She looked up at him, and there was another look she knew, a look she’d seen a thousand times before. Want. Love. Or something like it. “Don’t look at me like that.”

Like what?”

Like you’re about to kiss me.”

An eternal moment hung between them, and then Blake leaned over and did just that.

Devil’s Fury MC #11

MC Romance/Contemporary

Date Published: January 21, 2022

Publisher: Changeling Press, LLC

Minnie -- The Reckless Kings told me it was pointless to pine after Satyr. I kept offering myself to him, hoping he’d see me as something more. I was a fool. All that man will ever see when he looks at me is a club girl. I’ll always be trash in his eyes. So when the President offers me a chance at a new life, I grab on with both hands. It might mean living with yet another club -- the Devil’s Fury -- but once I meet Doolittle, my entire world turns upside down. I’d thought myself in love with Satyr, but I was so very wrong. Doesn’t matter. Same situation, different man. I might be starting my life over, but Doolittle knows what I am, what I’ve been… and he’ll never want someone like me as his old lady.

Doolittle -- Beast asked a favor and I gladly agreed. I have no problem with a woman who wants a fresh start. Before I even met Minnie, I’d offered to let her work at my clinic. I don’t know what I expected. But the stunning woman who shows up leaves me tripping over myself. I’ve never met anyone like her before, and the instant connection between us is startling. Just one problem. Well, three. The first is Meredith. The girl won’t take no for an answer and is determined I’ll be hers. The second is that Minnie feels unworthy of being mine. I’ll just have to prove her wrong. The third I never saw coming, and it just might change everything.

WARNING: Doolittle is part of the Devil’s Fury MC romance series and contains bad language, violence, and adult situations. You’ll also find entirely too many adorable animals, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

Excerpt

The gates to the Reckless Kings compound opened as I drove up. I stopped just inside the gate and leaned out to speak with the newest Prospect, Bronsen. “Can you tell me how to get the guest house? I’m supposed to meet with Doolittle.”

Bronsen hunkered down and braced his arms on the door of my small SUV. “Follow the road to the right. You can see Beast’s big ass house from here. Go past it and look for a gray Chevy Silverado. That’s what Doolittle drove here.”

Thanks.”

He backed away and I followed his directions, finding the house easily enough. I parked next to the truck and checked my reflection in the mirror, making sure I didn’t have flyaway strands of hair sticking up every which way. Snapping the visor shut, I took a breath to steady my nerves, and got out.

My door had barely shut when two paws landed in the middle of my chest, and I was knocked off my feet. My ass met the concrete driveway and I winced, knowing it would bruise. The fluffy giant grinned a doggy smile at me. “Well, hello to you too. If that’s how you greet everyone, you may need obedience training.”

Sorry about Goliath. He thinks he’s the size of a loaf of bread,” a deep voice said from nearby.

I craned my neck back and saw Doolittle standing on the porch. Even though I hadn’t met him before, he definitely wasn’t one of the Reckless Kings. Far as I knew, only one Devil’s Fury member had come to visit. “That’s a perfect name for him.”

I gave the giant floof a shove so I could stand up. Dusting off my pants, I approached the house, trying to get a better glimpse of my possible boss. I went up the steps and nearly tripped over my feet when my gaze met his. Holy hell! Beast wants me to work with this guy?

I stared, and then did the most embarrassing thing ever. I blurted out the first thing that popped into my head. “You’re gorgeous.”

My cheeks burned and my eyes widened. I could feel my heart racing and I wondered if it was too late to get back in the car and pretend this never happened. Doolittle chuckled and shoved his hands into his jean pockets.

I’m always happy to accept compliments from beautiful women.”

My face like I’d spiked a fever of a million degrees. He thought I was beautiful? Sure, men had told me that plenty of times. Usually right before they tried getting in my pants. Doolittle only winked then tipped his head toward the front door.

Why don’t we go in and discuss the job? I can go over the day-to-day details of what you’ll be doing, what it pays, and all that fun stuff. Then if you haven’t eaten dinner yet, maybe you can stick around and share some pizza with me. Although, I should warn you I placed the order right before you got here, so if supreme isn’t to your liking, you’re out of luck.”

The house she inherited from her mother isn't entirely empty, however. Her mom seems stuck between this life and the next, and now Tig is a local reporter's prime suspect in the murder of the former theater professor. Given his reputation as ladies' man, there are plenty of people with a motive.

Tig isn't a detective. She just played one on TV. Will that be enough to help her find the killer?

Excerpt

The discovery of Amundsen’s body meant that all of my classes were canceled. Lunch with Dean Prendergast was canceled, as well. I was perfectly okay with that since I no longer had the slightest bit of appetite.

Dr. Martin Peele arrived at Muncey Theater just before campus police, about ten minutes after Ben phoned him with the news about his junior colleague. Most of my interviews for the open position had been handled in an online video conference, but I’d met Dr. Peele in person once, when I was on campus with my mother a few years back. A short, squat man with thick eyebrows and an expressive face, he reminded me of a slightly taller and younger Danny DeVito. My first thought when I met him—aside from the fact that he had sweaty palms—was that he was tailor-made for character acting.

As soon as Dr. Peele was inside, campus police turned their questions to him, which made sense, given that I’d never even met Amundsen…well, at least not when he was alive. So I slipped out the side door with a book, in search of someplace quiet, preferably with lots of fresh air. I ducked into the cafeteria to grab coffee from the vending machine and then found an empty bench at a little park between Muncey Auditorium and the main campus. The last inch of the coffee remained in the bottom of the cup as I sat on the bench reading, so that I could bring it up to my nose and breathe it in as needed. Even a half hour later, out in the wide open where the January air carried a hint of the ocean, the awful smell from the theater remained lodged in my nostrils.

The scrappy girl detectives on Private Eye High encountered a corpse in pretty much every episode, and there were even a few cases where they stumbled upon a long-dead body. Given that the makeup department generally did an excellent job of making the bodies look real, I would have sworn that I was fully inoculated against squeamishness. But I’d never really considered the olfactory element. Murder mysteries will be much less popular if anyone ever invents smell-i-vision.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Antigone Alden. How is it that you’re in town less than twenty-four hours and we already have a dead body?”

I hadn’t heard Alicia Brown’s voice in more than twenty years, but the nasal twang was unmistakable. When I left Caratoke High School at the end of my sophomore year, after landing the part in Private Eye High, Alicia was the reigning Queen Bee-with-an-itch. She didn’t like me for one simple reason: Travis Lamm did like me. In fact, he liked me so much that we’d ended up dating for over three years, even keeping the relationship going after I was in California.

Sighing, I snapped shut the technical theater text I’d been thumbing through halfheartedly. “The body’s been in the trap room for way more than twenty-four hours, Leash.”

I didn’t even have to look up to know the expression on Alicia’s face when I pulled out the old nickname, Leash. I could picture the woman’s ferretlike nose twitch perfectly. That’s one good thing about old frenemies. You already know which buttons to push.

“You stepped right into his job,” Alicia said. “That might make some people a little suspicious. Or maybe trouble just follows you around like a bad stink. Can’t believe you’ve decided to come back and live among us commoners. Is California’s cost of living too high for washed-up has-beens?”

At that point I did look up and was surprised that the Alicia in my head didn’t look much like the one standing in front of me. Alicia’s hair was platinum now, rather than her natural brassy blonde. Two decades of tanning booths, Quarter Pounders, and cigarettes had taken a toll. Alicia now looked more like her mother, who’d sat in the bleachers at home games, than the pert and perky head majorette who had strutted across the field at halftime.

Rather than try to cover my surprise, I decided to use it. “Wow. I am so sorry, Mrs. Brown! I could have sworn I was talking to your daughter, Alicia.”

Alicia cocked her head to one side. I could almost hear the hamster wheel spinning away as she tried to dredge up a smart retort.

I decided to spare her the torment, thinking maybe if I just cut to the chase, Alicia would leave. “Did you want something, Alicia?”

“Actually, I do. I’m the lead reporter for The Clarion these days and unfortunately, my editor tasked me with writing a human-interest piece on your move back to Caratoke. Us being old friends and all. I have to get a photo to go with the article, so say cheese.” Alicia held up her phone and snapped the picture before I even had time to smile. She tucked the phone back into her little red handbag and then turned on her heel to walk away.

Will a snap decision change their lives forever?

Bizarre kidnappings stun the Big Island of Hawaii, pulling Danker Donahue back into the game and forcing him to partner with Jolene Kualoha, the woman who left him seven years ago when his DNA showed up in paternity lawsuit. The prejudice-motivated hate crimes are the wildest anyone has ever seen. Victims are being poisoned then released once the ransoms are paid, many losing their lives.

In the shadow of Jolene's success as a helicopter pilot, a troubled woman develops a fixation on Jolene and imitates her appearance. Matters turn dark when the copycat is shot dead. Was Jolene the target? Threats mount when she barely survives an accident after her brake cables are severed.

When these crimes threaten her sanity, Jolene is forced to trust the one person she thought she’d lost forever, Danker. Instantly, sparks fly between them, and as much as she wants to rekindle their relationship, she must protect her heart.

An old enemy, Seamus McGinn, breaks out of a maximum-security prison and invites Danker to a meet-up. Surprisingly, the kidnapper joins forces with McGinn along with his sick fans. McGinn trumpets his ‘murders by ice pick’, and it’s up to Danker to stop him. The whole island is on edge with a live feed from the maniac’s website.

In a stolen moment, Jolene shows him hope, and he makes a snap decision that will change their lives forever. Will he make it back to show her?

 Excerpt

Chapter One

Seven years since their breakup, Jolene Kualoha spotted Danker Donahue, ambling from the parking lot toward the store. She recognized him by his height and long gait. Wind from the north ruffled his hair and brought a bone-biting chill to her heart. Nuts, here he was, ducking his head to miss the bell overhead. It tinkled, and a strange twisting sensation hit her in the stomach.

This happened at the Kalua-Kona Food Emporium on a Sunday morning in July. She stared from where she stood near the avocados. His dangerous edge drew her in, but she turned her back to him. Her body reverberated like when her cellphone was on vibrate in her pocket. Stunned with minor electric shock, she froze.  Maybe he wouldn’t see her.  Wouldn’t recognize the back of her head or the once familiar shape of her ass.

Was someone waiting for him in the parking lot? Someone like Louella, the baby’s momma who’d summoned him for an immediate DNA test? For a split second, she craned her head around but didn’t see her with him.

She and Danker were a couple when the test confirmed his fatherhood. Her heart ached at the memory. Love hurt, but that wasn’t all. Loneliness hurt. Losing someone hurt. Decision-making hurt when you force yourself to do the right thing.

She’d pulled away, giving him space to work on his previous relationship for the sake of their child. The most shameful thing a woman can do is take parents away from a baby, and this began her year of stubborn steadfastness.

I did the breakup rituals. Got the dramatic haircut. Engraved a piece of jewelry he got me with a new message. Deleted the photos that made me cry.

To have been his woman was like living where the air flowered with jasmine, and the weather day after day was flawless, but the forecast was a hurricane.

1 gossip writer + 1 A-list movie star = 1 fake relationship…or does it?

After breaking a story that rocks Hollywood, Talia is the top gossip writer around. One night will put all of that into question. The writer becomes the story when she gets caught doing the walk of shame from A-lister Zee Jaxon’s home.

To save both of their reputations he suggests a fake relationship. Pretending should be easy. It shouldn’t mean the fake feelings become real. Accepting the real feelings means the lies they’ve told are even harder to hide.

When the truth comes out can their love survive or will everything just fade to black?

Excerpt

“I forgot to tell you something.”  Zeke said as they walked hand and hand to baggage claim.

“What?”

“Please don’t hate me.”  He kissed their linked hands.

“What did you do?”

As Zeke and Talia turned the corner to pick up their bags Talia saw a giant poster being held by a tall muscular guy wearing a too tight t-shirt and dirty jeans.  Scrawled on the poster were the words she was going to have etched on her brother’s grave.

WELCOME HOME, TALLY!

SORRY PORN DIDN’T WORK OUT FOR YOU!

GLAD YOU GOT THE HELP YOU NEEDED IN REHAB FOR THE FIFTH TIME!

“You asked Rex to pick us up?”

Zeke bit his lip trying not to laugh at the poster.  When Rex saw the poster had gotten their attention, and many others around them, he flipped it over.

WELCOME HOME, ZEKE!

I GOT THAT MEDICATION FOR YOUR STD!

HOPEFULLY THE SORES ARE NO LONGER LEAKING!

“I’m seeing my mistake now.”  Zeke said.

“I bet you are.”

Rex strode over to Zeke and Talia.  He dropped the poster and opened his arms wide.  Talia walked up to give him a hug, but landed a swift punch to his nuts.  Air whooshed out of his lungs.  Rex collapsed on the ground.  Fellow passengers walked around him.  The granny from the plane caught my eye and gave me a thumbs up.

“Hello, Rex.”  Talia stood with her hands on her hips watching her brother struggle.

“I’m….telling…mama.”

“Go ahead.  Then I’m going to show her the poster you made.”

“Fine.”  Rex managed to get off the ground.

“Thanks for picking us up, ass wipe.”  Zeke said.

“No problem.  How could I strand my best friend and sister at the airport?  Especially when they are now seeing each other.”  Rex looked at them skeptically.

“What car did you bring?”  Talia changed the subject before questions could be asked.

“The pick-up.”

“What?  Why didn’t you bring mama’s SUV?”

“Why would I?  My pick-up is fine.”

“It’s a bench seat. “

Rex smirked at her.  “Yep.  We will be getting real close for the next hour.”

“Hour?  It takes close to an hour and a half to get to Grandin.  How fast do you plan on going?”  Talia stopped and looked to her brother.

“You didn’t tell her?”  Rex asked.

“I didn’t have a chance.  We had a bit of an issue on the plane.”

“What happened?”

“Never mind that tell me what is going on.”  Talia stared at Zeke.

“We are going to go to my farm. It’s a half hour outside of Grandin.”

Talia glared at both of the men in front of her.  Turning on her heel she grabbed her bag and marched off toward the short term parking.   She easily found his beat up truck.  Slinging her bag into the bed she stood next to the passenger door.

“In a hurry to get to your love nest, Tally?”  Rex asked.

Talia ground her jaw as she stared at her skeptical twin.  When Zeke’s arm wound around her waist, pulled her close and kissed her temple Rex groaned and wrenched the door open.
