He shook Tom’s hand. The clench of
Tom’s fingers around his palm sent a jolt of attraction through Scott’s
stomach. He tried to memorize Tom’s touch. He held onto Tom’s fingers so long
he suddenly dropped the handshake in embarrassment.
Tom gazed at him.
Scott couldn’t read the expression in
Tom’s eyes. He’d never been good at picking a straight acting guy’s sexual
preference. If he went out, he frequented known gay bars so that there’d be no
mistakes. Right then his nerves clouded his judgement further. He locked looks
with Tom’s just to soak up the sight of Tom’s blue eyes. His hungry gaze traced
lips that beckoned to him, until he yearned to kiss them, and hair that looked
soft and easy to grab as he fucked the breath from Tom, the man of his dreams.
Tom broke their shared stare. He
gestured to the delivery truck. “We have two large kegs ordered. Will you need
help?”
Scott forced himself back to
business. “No, I’m good. What about the crated beers? Where will I bring them?”
Tom half turned to indicate the
double door and the corridor beyond. “The storeroom—I’ll show you.”
Scott followed Tom to the storeroom
door and looked in.
“Sure, okay, and do I put the boxes
of champagne in there?”
Tom turned so that he was close, so
close to Scott, in fact, that his shoulder was a whisper away. “Yes, thanks.”
Scott backed away with desire burning
in his balls, and then strode out to the truck. His heart’s desire, Tom, had
been so close he could have kissed those perfect lips. He could have hugged him
against his body. Scott sighed. His stomach ached with the need to have Tom for
his own. A strange trembling gripped Scott. He’d wanted for Tom for so long and
now he had no idea if he would ever stand a chance. Tom was probably straight.
Scott completed the delivery. He’d
left the PDA in the cab of the truck and went to get it so that Tom could sign
for the goods. He heard Tom’s footsteps crunching on the gravel and then Tom
was by his side.
Scott straightened and faced Tom.
“Please sign here. He pointed the stylus at the bottom box of a document on the
screen. Then he held out the PDA and the stylus.”
Tom’s fingers stroked his taking the
stylus.
A frown of sadness and longing
creased Scott’s forehead.
Tom looked into his face as he handed
back the PDA. “There you go.”
Scott took the little electronic
device and managed a sad smile. “Thank you, Mr. Wells.”
Tom grinned. “Hey, call me Tom.”
Scott couldn’t speak. He nodded, his
eyes searching Tom’s face for any sign of attraction or glimmer of recognition
that they were both gay.
Tom left him standing there by the
truck.
