Cathy
applies to rent the building to expand her dating agency business. As she
begins to make it ready, the house reveals its secrets.

will haunt you.
The Tease:
In the first few
passages of time that he existed Owen tried hard to get someone’s attention, and then he
realized no one could see him. He tried to open the windows, but they were
stuck fast, and the most horrible thing of all was if he kicked at them or tried
to break them they shimmered away as if they were a mirage. He never saw Nate
again and he discovered his cell phone never had a signal.
He was terrified for
what felt like a long time and then one day he broke down and cried. He hadn’t
seemed to exist for a little while after that because the next time he found
himself painting, the trees in the garden on the other side of the square were
blossoming. Some kind of peace had descended on him and he just painted.
It came as a complete shock when
Cathy Faraday walked in, but he’d covered it up. He’d wanted to tell her what
happened to him, but knew she might run thinking him a lunatic or worse. Owen
sighed then as he stood up again. The shadows were lengthening and he knew that
might mean he’d sleep or whatever else he did that he couldn’t remember. He
felt afraid again now he’d seen Cathy Faraday. Somehow, that strange peace had
gone, and he felt as afraid as he had in the early part of being there.
Owen pictured Cathy Faraday. He
liked her elfin face and big green eyes. He recalled her as best he could and
thought that if he’d met her under normal circumstances he would have gone
after her, asked for a date, got to know her, taken her to bed. Owen was
thinking those thoughts when the sun went down and he disappeared.
