Kick back with a teaser

Two strong male hands grasped her waist, lifted her, and set her on her feet. A deep, attractive voice asked, “Are you okay?—You’re not. You’re freezing and your shoe is broken. Let me help you. I’m here for you.” He held her shoulders, taking some of her weight as Simi limped to face her rescuer.

She looked up and into the eyes of a gorgeous man. Strands of his thick dark hair glistened in the light, thrown off by the strings of fairy lights threaded through the branches of the trees lining this part of the sidewalk. The sleet lent a sheen to these strands and lit him up as if he, too, was a Christmas decoration. Simi gazed at him. She drank in the perfect features of his face. Her eyes dipped to take in his obviously muscled body under his clothes. His overcoat hung open over a black suit. He wore a gleaming white shirt and a black bow tie. He’s perfect.

“I’m fine, thank you,” her voice scratched out.

He gave her a look just short of amused, but definitely disbelieving.

“I know otherwise. Please, it’s Christmas. Let me be here for you.”

The sincerity in his voice soothed her. Trepidation left her, replaced by hope. Bizarre, considering he could be a murderer. She hopped a step.

The gorgeous man stooped and pulled the heel from the paver crack. He grinned at her mischievously and put it in his pocket.

Simi let her shoulder bag dangle from her arm and tried to walk with one foot five-and-a-half inches higher than the other.

The delicious man held her arm gently. He took her bag and slung it over his shoulder.

“I’ll carry that. Put your arm around my waist and lean on me.” He slipped his arm around her shoulders.

She did as he asked. His hard body under her arm comforted her. Simi tried another step. It was still a limp, but suddenly amused, she laughed. She looked up into his handsome face.

“If I’m going to be hanging onto you, I should know your name.”

“Jason. My name’s Jason, and you’re…?”

Simi was lost in the sound of his voice and the flow of delicious tingles down her body as his arm tightened around her. She whispered, “Simi.”

He smiled, his eyes alight with emotion. “That’s a beautiful name. A lovely, soft name for a beautiful girl.”

A little alarm bell went off for Simi. Isn’t that a little too charming? Maybe he is a murderer trying to lull me into trusting him. “Look buddy, don’t bother trying flattery on me.”

His smile widened. Crinkles appeared at the corners of his eyes. He laughed and then shook his head. “Don’t be afraid. I’m not here to hurt you, quite the opposite, and you are beautiful.”

The wind whipped strands of her hair across her face and she limped along. “I don’t have far to go now. I can manage. You must have somewhere to be.”

Jason sighed deeply.

The sound traveled over Simi in a wave. It brought a wash of regret that she’d suggested this gorgeous man stop helping her and leave. She looked up into his eyes and saw sadness.

“I have nowhere to be. It’s Christmas. I’m free to be with you if you want me. I’m no threat. I’d love to help you…at least to your door, Simi.”

Her longing to have a man like him with her for comfort, help, and maybe more seeded acceptance and trust in her heart. She gripped his overcoat as she leaned into him again, trying to excuse her outburst about flattery. “I’m not used to knights in shining armor.” She limped off again and he walked with her, his arm around her, almost lifting her from her feet. His pace slowed to give her time to accommodate the lack of a heel on one shoe.

“I’ve not been that for a long time.” His murmured words brought a smile to her lips and she took a deep breath, deciding to talk with him as they made their way to her apartment. “Have you been to a party or something?”

“I’ve been—” He told her, but dipped his head as the sleet became heavier.

Simi didn’t hear the end of his sentence. It was whirled away by the weather’s onslaught. The wind made the icy rain slant into her overcoat collar. She cuddled against him.

Jason stopped walking. He gave her a gentle smile. “We’ll be frozen and saturated by the time we get to your place.” Then he picked her up in his strong arms and cradled her to his body. “I’ll carry you.”

As he enveloped her in his arms, her face rested on his chest. A vague fragrance of pine needles and trees drifted around her. His arm under her thighs warmed her. His arm crushing her to his muscled chest reminded her of the dream she’d had. He was every bit as gorgeous and sexy as the man in her dream. Simi’s heart filled up with hope. Whatever he was offering this night she would take. This was the most comforted and cared for she’d felt in a very long time. As Jason walked with her, she snuggled into his aura. He exuded masculinity, strength, protection, sex. It felt good. “Thank you. My place is at the end of this street.”

From Elodie,

My hero, Jason Chandler, doesn’t know what he is. Maybe an angel, or a spirit, he only knows he’s given assignments to fulfill by the enigmatic higher powers of the universe. This assignment is different, and when he finds himself materialize beside Simi, my heroine, he’s instantly hopeful that his lonely existence is about to change.  With an HEA , this story is full of love and magic.

Read Jason's explanation of what he is to himself (book teaser)

Jason followed as she went to the dining room.

She put the candlestick in the middle with a happy sigh.

He smiled at her. “How can I help?”

Simi opened the door on a low cabinet. She took out rolled, fine wooden-slat, place mats and unfurled each on the table. “Talk to me. Tell me about yourself. Where do you work? Where do you live? I want to know all about you, or at least something.” She laughed then.

The sound took away the fear that spiked up Jason’s spine when she asked the specific questions about him. I’ll tell her what I can without frightening her away. He opted for that.

“I have assignments from a—a group that are designed to help people...solve problems. I live around here.” The ether wasn’t so far above the terrestrial sphere, scientifically, and mystical enough to be almost everywhere, so that was okay to say. I can’t say I only work at Christmas, though. I can’t say I’m some sort of spirit doing penance for dabbling in magic, can I?

Simi placed cut crystal, long-stemmed glasses on each mat. She grinned at him. “Are you a social worker?”

Jason shook his head.

Simi considered for a few moments. “You’re a company troubleshooter. No wonder you’re a little cagey about that. Ours is a shark. He can put a positive light on the trickiest complaint.”

“Oh, no, that’s not how I operate. I really help, even if it’s just for a short time.” That much was true. He’d brought comfort, strokes of good luck, better outlooks, the coincidence of friends meeting lost friends or family, the avoidance of an accident not meant to happen, although never what he’d brought Simi, never sex and … and love.

WooHoo it's already #humpday and that means #MWTease. Today the #teaser is from Candle Magic #paranormalromance

He approached the end of the street and turned with his heart hammering. Situated between two obviously thriving businesses, his shop with the apartment he used to live in over the top sat desolate and unkempt. The awning was rolled up into the cover, and one of the straps had come loose. It flapped in the cold breeze. The windows were covered in faded brown paper on the inside so that no one could see in. The porch had one or two empty fast-food packets lodged along one wall as if the wind had deposited them there and they’d latched onto their new home. The blue door was the same, and apart from a layer of environmental dust, looked to Jason to be fine.
Jason knew he could approach the back of the shop via a narrow walkway alongside the shop, and crammed in between the next building. He took the walkway, and a shiver ran up his spine. The back of the shop looked solid, but as uncared for as the front. If there was a fire sale, there couldn’t have been much of a fire. Maybe Simi was mistaken.
He tried the back door. Naturally, it was locked. Jason took the fire escape steps to the large grime-covered window on the fourth floor of the rambling building. His boots clanged on the metal. Unless someone had fixed it, he could jiggle that open. He’d meant to fix it, but the place was alarmed if he went out and he’d never bothered. Especially since he’d once forgotten his keys and had to call a locksmith and have all the locks changed to get in.
Jason glanced around to check if anyone was watching him, then took hold of the two handles adjacent to each other in the doorframe and jiggled around. He was about to give up when the crack between the door widened and the catch of the lock was accessible to press inwards. The metal hurt his cold fingers as he pushed the catch in, but the doors opened. He was inside his old home. He expected the security alarm to go off, but it didn’t. It can’t have been set.
He stared around, his heart hammering. The air smelt dusty, but other than that, this was his living room, uncannily untouched since he’d last seen it. He raced through to his kitchen, remarkably large for an apartment, and discovered it had been tidied. The fridge door hung open, the shelves sat empty, and the thermostat set to off. Jason opened the cupboards. Everything was the same, except no food remained in the larger cupboard. Stands to reason someone would clear it out, but who?
Curiosity burned in him as he dashed through to his bedroom. Someone had stripped the bed and the quilts lay folded on the mattress with the pillows. He wondered if his cell phone was still on the floor next to his bed where he’d let it drop the night of the spell. He walked around the bed, but couldn’t see it. He opened the bedside table drawer, and there it was with the charger lead neatly wrapped around it.
Jason flung open his wardrobe doors. His clothes hung neatly from the rails. He rifled through them and found the jacket where he always left a couple of hundred dollars in the inside pocket. It’s still there. Surprise gripped him as he rustled the notes and then thrust them back into the pocket. His T-shirts and boxers were stacked neatly on the vertical shelves on one side of the wardrobe.
Jason took a step back, perplexed. He closed the doors and turned around. Someone had left the place for him to come back to. He tried to list the people who would do such a kind thing and he couldn’t. He’d grown apart from university friends when he’d moved to this town shortly after his parents died in an air crash. He had no girlfriend, nor had he made many close friends in the year he’d been at the shop. He went down the corridor and opened his study door. His desk stood in the corner next to the window with a view of the high street below. He went over to it. His laptop sat there with an envelope placed on top. Jason picked it up. It was addressed to him. With his fingers shaking, he opened it. The fold of paper fluttered in his hand as he started to read it. Completely amazed, he slumped heavily in the desk chair close by.
He sat there for a few minutes thinking about the letter and the person who’d left it. His fingertips felt thick with dust. He needed fresh air.

Sighs escaped her as the addictive feel of his love bite sent sparks tripping down her body.
He held her hips and slid her deliciously on his cock.
The muscles in his arms and chest enticed her and she ran her palms over his skin.

Jason groaned. He put a hand between their bodies. His fingers found her clit and pressed there as he fucked her. “You’re mine. Simi…Simi, you’re mine.” His voice grew husky.

He lifted her from his knee and she set her on the carpet. “That sounds good.”
As Simi walked ahead of him, he slapped her ass. It made her jump and a little squeal flew from her mouth. She spun around with a grin. “Hey.”
Jason caught her to him. “I know you’re not wearing any panties. It’s incredibly sexy.”
She enjoyed the way his eyes darkened at her. “I’ll get some from my room.” She eased away from him.
He held onto her wrist. “Don’t you dare.”
Simi smiled mischievously. “I’ve been meaning to ask you. Where’s your underwear?”
He shrugged. “I always go commando.”
A laugh burst from Simi’s mouth at the innocent expression on his face. She clasped his hand. “Come on, let’s get that coffee.”

Read a Teaser snippet:

Jason picked up his suit pants and pulled them on. He stood, catching sight of the door where mistletoe hung from the frame. As he opened the bottle of water and took a drink, he wandered over there. He glanced up at the green leaves and white berries like little pearls hanging among them. “Thank you.” He picked up his discarded jacket and tossed it expertly into the living room, where it landed on an armchair, before he walked into the room, wanting to know more about Simi.
It held a dining table and chairs. A double-door glass window beckoned to him and he approached. The Christmas tree lit up in the center of the courtyard below enticed him. He opened the window and stepped onto the balcony to lean over and soak up the air. The sleet had given way to a frosty, clear night. He breathed deeply. The fresh perfume of the pine tree glistening below drifted around him. A shooting star streaked overhead. Jason tingled with the magic of Christmas day. “I get Christmas wishes, too, don’t I?”

Not sure I like the real world, anymore. I'd rather be in one of my stories. They say (whoever they are) that writers live in their heads...

I've been hanging out to write all week and finally had time Friday and Saturday. The only thing I took a break for was a quick visit to a couple of social media sites and once there I suddenly realized the old adage about writers living in their heads is probably true for me. I signed off quickly to go back to the world I've created in this new story. I already miss it.

I've re-read my December 23, Siren Publishing release manuscript in the last week since I had some traveling to put up with. Candle Magic is already up for pre-order. I read the manuscript because I missed the setting, the characters, and the romantic ideas within the story.

It's not the first time I've found  myself missing my characters or the setting of my story, but lately it's a little more than it used to be. When the real world sets my teeth on edge my thoughts wander to one of the places I've created for a story. There are quite a few places now, too, so I have a number to choose from.
I was doing an interview for book blog last week and they asked me a question that made me stop and consider how many stories I've written since I 'picked up the pen' again in 2012.
I was actually shocked to find I've written around twenty stories of various lengths published singly and about four stories featured in anthologies. Yikes I had no idea. Little wonder I miss my characters and their settings, I'm mostly in those worlds.

I do have a day job in case you're wondering. (Smiles)
I do wonder, though, if I'd miss those places and characters as much if I wrote horror and not romance.

The heat in his expression sent a pulse so strong through her pussy her cream ran down onto her inner thighs.
She waited naked in front of him. A few seconds passed and then he stepped to her and scooped her up. He walked to the dining room and laid her on the table. The wood was cold against her back and ass, but Jason’s gaze sent a blush of heat up from her breasts to her chin.
He opened her legs and bent.
The suck on her clit drove a moan from her.

Read the tease:

Not a sound came from the other apartments. Simi’s breathing echoed in her ears as well as her heartbeat that sped up every time Jason was close as they mounted the last flight of stairs to her apartment.
Simi’s hand shook as she unlocked the door.
Jason stood close to her.
The space between them pulsed, making Simi feel as if he actually pressed against her. The atmosphere suddenly laden with sexual tension, Simi stared down at the parquet floor as she led Jason down her apartment hall to the living room. She stopped and turned to him. He loomed in front of her like a magnet of pure sexual temptation. She dropped her bag by the coffee table and unbuttoned her overcoat. She dared to look into his eyes as she slid the coat off.
“Let me take your coat. The heating is on. We’ll get warm quickly now.” Her voice shook a little.
Jason took his overcoat off and handed it to her with a smile in his eyes.
“Thank you.”
“Sit down. I’ll take these and put some coffee on, or would you like a glass of wine? I think I have some bourbon, too.”
His voice low, he slowly sat on the end of the sofa as he answered, “Coffee is very welcome.”
She practically ran to the coat stand that was halfway down the hall near her kitchen door. She pulled her business suit jacket off and hung that there, too. With a little skip into the kitchen, Simi put coffee on. She left it to percolate and walked back to the living room. With every step, the need to be held against Jason’s muscled chest again grew, until when she saw him sitting quietly on the sofa, her heart gave a huge flip.

The moment his lips touched hers, Simi’s stomach felt dissolved. The air charged with desire and Simi pressed against Jason, wrapping her arms around him. His kiss drained her of coherent thought. The gentle, sexy, pressure of his mouth sent pulses of desire right through her body. Her breath left her, but she couldn’t take her lips from his. She didn’t care about breathing. All she wanted was more of the languorous kiss and his hands gentle on her skin.
